Every Cyntaf begins with the careful selection of materials. Each leg is cut from a single length of maple or black walnut, ensuring the grain pattern flows seamlessly throughout the stand.

This attention to detail not only elevates the aesthetic but guarantees strength and consistency.

For the shelves, we rely on a trusted partner at the Welsh slate quarry, who selects each piece against our strict criteria for structural integrity and the natural beauty with a flatness tolerance of 0.5mm. Both materials are finished to exacting tolerances, creating a foundation as precise as it is striking.

Acoustic and Performance Advantages

  • Resonance control: Hard Maple and specially selected Black Walnut are dense and stiff, providing the mass needed to absorb and manage vibrational energy. The result is greater clarity and detail, free from the muddiness caused by resonance.

  • Slate’s mass and damping: Incredibly dense and stable, Welsh slate dissipates unwanted vibrations and provides a rock-solid, non-resonant surface for your components.

  • Material synergy: Together, selected timbers and slate form a natural constrained-layer damping system, where the different resonant properties of wood and stone neutralise one another. This unique pairing delivers superior isolation for each component, unlocking your system’s true potential.

The Joint

At the heart of Cyntaf is a dovetail joint.

Precision-cut and set within an aerospace-grade compound.

This “connection that dis-connects” forms another level of damping,

dealing with vibrations travelling into the core frame where your electronics rest.

It’s engineering that works silently, but its effect is heard in every note.
